Better Health With Infrared Saunas

In ancient China, there was a simple yet valuable remedial known as palm healing. In palm healing, ailments can be cured just by placing palms on the patient’s palms. It was believed that this technique was based on the healing properties of the natural infrared rays that the human body emits.

It is upon this assumption that sauna emerged. Sauna was popularized by the Finns. It was originally used for bathing, as well as childbirth and some ceremonies. The first recorded wooden saunas date sometime between the 5th and 8th centuries.

The Far Infrared

The sun’s rays consist of three energy segments - near, medium and far, with each having different micron levels. The seven colors of the rainbow are visible lights, while the infrared rays and ultraviolet rays are invisible lights. Though the sun is the primary source of energy, not all of this energy is beneficial, such as the UV rays. However, infrared rays are good for the body. It penetrates deep into the skin and can dissolve harmful substances accumulated in our body.

The farthest band of light is known as Far Infrared. Far Infrared is defined as the invisible band of light that is felt by the human body as heat. It is also known as ‘radiant heat’ because it heats an object directly, without the presence of air in between. Our body internally produced infrared energy within our tissues that aids in healing responses. It is believed that a boost to reach its maximal level can ensure the fullest healing responses. This phenomenon is known as ‘resonant absorption’.

Far Infrared penetrates 1.5 inches the body’s tissues. Due to the deep penetration of infrared rays, a heating effect is observed deep in the muscular tissues and even into the internal organs. This causes blood vessels to dilate, which promotes better blood circulation as the heat rids the body off toxins through sweating.

Far Infrared was first developed by the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) to improve and maintain the fitness level of its astronauts. It quickly gained popularity in the United States and Europe as researchers revealed its benefit.

Infrared Sauna

You can now enjoy the benefits of these rays by sitting in an infrared sauna, which is a cabin made from hemlock wood, the material recommended for Far Infrared energy. The cabin is equipped with a revolutionary Carbon Fiber Heaters. When electric heat is induced, these heaters emit Far Infrared rays of between 9.4 to 10 microns, which meet the 6 to 10 microns range beneficial for the human body.

The Benefits Of Infrared Sauna

Good circulation of blood and bodily fluids enhances the distribution of oxygen and ingestion of nutrients to every part of the body. Thus the body naturally metabolizes and heals itself which leads to improved vitality. Once the body is strong and healthy, its elevated immune system induces a greater capacity to resist against diseases. The following is a list of benefits that Infrared Sauna holds:

1. Weight Loss
Far Infrared decreases lipophilic toxin storing and speeds up the metabolic process of vital organs and endocrine glands by removing heavy metals, thus promoting weight loss.

2. Detoxification
An increased metabolic rate causes excessive toxic waste to be purged from the body through the skin during perspiration.

3. Improving Circulation And Increasing Energy
When Far Infrared is absorbed by human cells, it causes a reaction called ‘resonance’. This causes water molecules in the body to break, freeing toxins from our system. This instantly invigorates cellular activity, and leads to better blood circulation and improved metabolism.

4. Improving Cardiovascular Health
Far Infrared is also known to increase heart rate and blood circulation. Better circulation means more blood is diverted from the inner organs towards the extremities of the skin.

5. Boosting The Immune System
Far Infrared creates an artificial fever and this has a positive effect on the immune system. The immune system naturally becomes stronger during a fever, while viral and bacterial growth is slowed.

6. Speeds Up Recovery Of Injuries
Far Infrared stimulates vasodilatation of peripheral blood vessels, bringing oxygen to joints and extremities, to promote the healing of sprains and strains. This relieves pain and reduces recovery time.

7. Skin Improvement
Increased blood circulation enables great amounts of nutrients to be delivered to the skin. This promotes a healthy skin tone and structure. Detoxification also enhances the process.

Infrared Sauna Therapy

Basically, you just need to sit in the cabin wearing a towel or a robe. During the first 10 to 15 minutes, you feel pleasantly warm, like being in the early morning sun. This is the ‘feeling stage’ when the body absorbs the rays.

The next stage is the detoxification process and promotion of the cardiovascular system. At this stage, you will sweat profusely.

The last 10 minutes is the regression or anti aging process. This is when collagen is reproduced and the skin becomes firm.

The 30 minute session will burn 300 to 600 calories. After the session, you will feel refreshed and cleansed.
